The directors of John Robson Metals Limited recognise that our most important resource is our staff. Their development, commitment and interest in the company and the pride and attitude to their work enable our company to carry out the most difficult of work safely and efficiently. This is the asset we are most proud of.
We ensure that their training is as comprehensive and up to date as possible. Our training programme has been ongoing for over 20 years and we have well trained and experienced teams. Their training and development is constantly reassessed to ensure we have the capabilities and expertise to safely undertake whatever job a situation requires.
From the very first day, the training begins, with hands-on in-house training and the 2-day ECITB Safety Passport course. Once the new member has shown good safety awareness and a willingness to learn he/she will be put forward for further training.
The typical training certifications our staff hold include: -
From a member of a working party to Receipt of Safety Documents or Standby. John Robson Metals can provide a fully competent team on all substations. Examples of DNO authorisations we currently hold are: -
- National Grid
- Scottish Power
- Scottish & Southern Electricity
- Western Power Distribution
The Levels of authorisations can vary among power companies. However, we have staff with various authorisations. A list of which is available upon request.
At John Robson Metals, we believe that there needs to be an awareness of health & safety and environmental issues surrounding the jobs which can involve high risk and possible high impact to the surrounding environment. Therefore, we insist that we have several engineers & management which are trained in the following areas: -
- First Aid
- Fire Marshall
- IOSH Managing Safely – Supervisors Course
- IEMA Environmental Management
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate – QHSE Manager
All Plant training given to our staff is NPORS/IPAF/CPCS/CSCS recognised, some examples include: -
- Wheeled/ Tracked 360 Excavator
- IPAF 1A&B, 3A&B
- Harness Inspection
- Crawler Crane
